Getting started with JAP/10 min

How to set up your business

Everything in JAP hangs off your business: services, bookings, pets, invoices and your team all belong to it. Setting it up properly takes a few minutes and saves a lot of tidying later.

What you end up with: A live workspace you can start adding services and pets to.

Steps

  1. Create your business

Choose Start business and give it its real trading name — clients see it on bookings, invoices and messages.

  2. Tell Buddy what you do, or use guided setup

Describe your business in your own words and Buddy proposes a setup, or take the step-by-step path with the business-type cards. Either way, nothing is created until you confirm.

  3. Pick the kinds of care you offer

Boarding, daycare, grooming, walking and sitting can all run in one business. Choose what you do now; you can turn more on later in Settings.

  4. Set your hours and capacity

Opening days, hours and how many pets you can take at once. Capacity is what stops your calendar overselling a busy weekend.

  5. Check your business profile

Address, phone and email are used on invoices and in client-facing screens, so it's worth getting them right on day one.

Recommended setup

  • Use one business for one physical location.
  • Turn on only the care types you actually run today — an unused module is just noise on the sidebar.
  • Set capacity slightly below your absolute maximum while you settle in.

Tips

  • You can rename the business and change hours at any time in Settings.
  • If you started with Buddy, open its proposal and edit anything before creating — every section can also be left as 'decide later'.
